SPEDI Till is the newest addition to the SPEDI family, and was developed to enable smaller stores to be able to have the benefits of scanning from a system that is easy to understand.
The result is a simplified version of our full store solution, working together on one machine as SPEDI Till.
The fact that it can run on one machine (preferably a
touch screen till) means that: you don’t need to have a separate back office
machine; there are no costs in setting up the wiring for a network in the
store; you save the cost of a separate back office PC ; and the system is much
simpler to use so there is less training required. With the use of a product file from your main supplier the
system almost sets itself up. When one of these products is scanned at the
till, you just need to enter a selling price and select a department. If the product is not on your suppliers
file, you will also need to enter a description. If you want to print shelf
edge labels, a few simple procedures will produce these for you.
Before the installation, an installer will talk you through how you want the system to run and the cover things like what departments you’d like and how you want the till buttons to appear. When that is done the till is ready to go.
The options available to the operator are always clearly displayed as a block of “buttons” appearing on the screen. Other buttons are also displayed as appropriate and the text shown on each describes the function of the button. To use a function if using a touch screen, press the button labelled with the function. On screen help messages for screens and functions are available in a similar way.
You also have the option to add other software to the SPEDI Till, for example SPEDI News, to expand the system as necessary to meet the needs of your customers.
A secure till system makes a huge contribution to your
profitability. In SPEDI Till, five security levels are available for each
function. Every operator action is logged electronically and may be reviewed.
Your operators will know you have this information available. The cash control
options include operator reports, Z readings, cash reconciliation, and discreet
alerts when cash in drawer limits are exceeded. Vouchers may be printed to
record cash back, account transactions, lottery payments, etc. The electronic
log may be held as your VAT record on disk.
There are simple mix and match feature. You can set up basic offers to be offered to your customers. Examples include, ‘buy on, get one free’ or ‘buy any three cans of soup for 99p’
SPEDI Till can be used with a Verifone chip and pin pad to give exceptionally cost effective and easy to use processing of credit and debit cards. A broadband link is required so that each transaction is authorised before it is accepted to protect your interests. The transactions are automatically forwarded to the bank for settlement. The terminal is an upgrade to the standard system and processing charges apply.
SPEDI Till is approved by the national Weights and Measures Laboratory for use with scales. We recommend the use of Avery or Herbert scales. Note that your till hardware must also be approved for use with scales; ask our support team for advice on this.
News accounts can be set up at the till using SPEDI News.
Papers can be charged to accounts, payments can be made to accounts and
balances can be displayed on the till. Payments can be made to last Saturday,
next Saturday or today.
SPEDI Till can be run on almost any kind of equipment which can run Windows XP Professional (our recommended operating system). It can be run with a keyboard or a touch screen. In your own interests you should attach a retail printer, display and cash drawer. You will find that our resellers have excellent ranges of hardware available for you.
